How to Install the Meta Pixel on Your Website

What Is the Meta Pixel?

The Meta Pixel is a piece of JavaScript code placed on your website that tracks visitor actions. It's essential for measuring ad performance, building retargeting audiences, and optimizing campaigns.

Step 1: Go to Events Manager

Open Events Manager in Meta Business Suite.

Step 2: Create a Pixel

Click Connect Data SourcesWebMeta PixelConnect. Name your pixel and enter your website URL.

Step 3: Choose Installation Method

  • Partner Integration — Use if you run Shopify, WordPress, or Squarespace
  • Manual Installation — Copy the pixel code and paste it in your site's <head>
  • Via Google Tag Manager — Add a Custom HTML tag in GTM with the pixel code (recommended)

Step 4: Set Up Events

After installing the base pixel, configure standard events like PageView, Lead, Purchase, or Contact to track specific actions.

Step 5: Test

Use the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension to verify your pixel is firing correctly.
