Last updated: May 3, 2026

1. Introduction

SocialSquared ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you visit our website at socialsquared.ca or engage our services.

By accessing our website or using our services, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of personal information:

Information You Provide

  • Name, email address, phone number, and business name when you fill out a contact form, apply for a strategy session, or subscribe to our communications.
  • Payment and billing information when you purchase our services.
  • Any other information you voluntarily submit to us.

Information from Third-Party Platforms

When you connect your social media accounts through our client portal, we collect information from those platforms through their official APIs using secure OAuth authorization. This includes:

  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram): Your name, profile information, Page access tokens, Instagram business account identifiers, and content engagement metrics. We access this data through the Meta Graph API using permissions you explicitly grant during the authorization process.
  • LinkedIn: Your name, email, profile URL, and organization access for company pages you administer.
  • TikTok: Your display name, profile information, and content publishing credentials.
  • Google Business Profile: Your business profile information and management credentials.

We only access data that is necessary to provide our social media management services on your behalf. You can revoke access at any time by disconnecting your accounts through your client portal or through the respective platform's settings.

Information Collected Automatically

  • IP address, browser type, operating system, and device information.
  • Pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URLs, and other browsing behavior through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Analytics data collected through third-party services such as Google Analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our website and services.
  • Respond to your inquiries and communicate with you about projects, services, and promotions.
  • Process transactions and send related information such as invoices and confirmations.
  • Publish and schedule social media content on your behalf across connected platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Google Business Profile).
  • Retrieve social media analytics and performance metrics to generate reports for your review.
  • Improve our website, services, and marketing efforts.
  • Analyze usage patterns and trends to enhance user experience.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Service Providers: Trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating our business (e.g., hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment processing). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.
  • Social Media Platforms: When you authorize us to manage your social media accounts, we interact with platform APIs (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Google) to publish content and retrieve analytics on your behalf. We only transmit data necessary to perform the actions you have authorized.
  • Legal Compliance: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect information about your browsing activity. Cookies help us improve site functionality, remember your preferences, and analyze traffic. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, though disabling cookies may affect site functionality.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

For social media account credentials, we employ the following safeguards:

  • Access tokens and refresh tokens obtained through OAuth authorization are encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption before being stored in our database.
  • We never store your social media passwords. All account connections use OAuth, meaning you authorize our application directly through the platform (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) without sharing your login credentials with us.
  • Access tokens are scoped to only the permissions you explicitly grant and can be revoked at any time.

8. Social Media Data Deletion

You may request the deletion of all data associated with your connected social media accounts at any time by:

  • Disconnecting your social accounts through your client portal.
  • Revoking access through the platform's own settings (e.g., Facebook Settings > Business Integrations).
  • Contacting us directly at info@socialsquared.ca to request deletion of all stored tokens, profile data, and cached analytics associated with your accounts.

Upon receiving a deletion request or deauthorization callback from a platform, we will delete all associated access tokens, refresh tokens, profile information, and cached analytics data within 30 days.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Withdraw consent to the processing of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@socialsquared.ca.
