What Is Google Search Console?

Google Search Console (GSC) is a free tool that shows how Google sees your website — which keywords you rank for, how many clicks you get, and any indexing or technical issues.

Step 1: Go to Search Console

Visit search.google.com/search-console and sign in.

Step 2: Add a Property

Choose between:

  • Domain — Covers all subdomains and protocols (requires DNS verification)
  • URL Prefix — Covers a specific URL pattern (multiple verification options)

We recommend Domain for comprehensive coverage.

Step 3: Verify Ownership

For domain verification, add the provided TXT record to your DNS. For URL prefix, you can use an HTML file, meta tag, Google Analytics, or Google Tag Manager.

Step 4: Submit Your Sitemap

Go to Sitemaps in the left menu and enter your sitemap URL (usually yourdomain.ca/sitemap.xml). Click Submit.

Step 5: Grant Access

Under Settings → Users and permissions, add your agency's email as a Full user so they can monitor your site's SEO health.
